LOW VISCOSITY GRADE (LV)

Description
PAC (LV) is a purified low molecular weight polymer. It is a water

and salt mud systems and reduces the potential for deferential
sticking. It resists bacterial degradation, thus eliminating the need
for biocides.

SHALE STABILIZERS

SHALE STABILISERS

Description
Non-invasive Fluid (NIF) is a finely graded fibrous material which
helps in avoiding fluid invasion, increasing well bore strengthening
and avoiding pore pressure transmission. The low permeability seal
created by NIF limits transmission of destabilizing wellbore
pressure into the formation. This barrier or ‘shield’ minimizes
formation damage and prevents fractures from propagating. It is a
fine graded naturally occurring cellulosic material which has been
further modified by grafting so as to make it non invasive. When
added at a dose of up to 3% on the drilling fluid it can seal
heterogeneous permeable formations.
Application
The fibrous material of structured particle size prevents fractures
from propagating – (seals up to 250 μm fractures), creating a seal to
effectively minimize fluid invasion into micro-fractures, thus
stabilizing weak shale and effectively reducing down-hole troubles
and formation damage.

SHALE STABILISERS

Description
KCl, a soluble salt, is an extremely efficient shale stabilizer when
drilling hydro sensitive clays and shales. Inhibition is provided
through ion exchange; the potassium ion enters between the
individual clay platelets in the shale so that they are held together,
thus eliminating entry of water from the drilling fluid.
Application
KCl can be added directly to a drilling fluid system to enhance
its inhibitive quality, thus helping to stabilise water sensitive
clay and shales.

LOSS CIRCULATION MATERIAL

Description
The Thief Zone Seal (TZS) Additive ® is a smart lost circulation
prevention and mitigation solution. It essentially helps in sealing
and closing fractures in the formation, thus effectively controlling
fracture propagation and wellbore instability. The TZS Additive is a
blend of granular and fibrous materials in a single sack, high solids
formulation. Once injected, it helps in bridging and sealing the thief
zone and increasing the pressure so as to force the water/drilling
fluid out of the fracture. It leaves a deposition of solids in place to
form an impermeable filter cake, thus plugging the loss zone.
Application
The Thief Zone Seal Additive provides effective sealing in natural
and induced fractures to control moderate and heavy losses,
formations with large pores or cavities and washed-out sands. It
can be used for drilling in all kinds of formations – coal, limestone,
sand and shale, as well as in aqueous and non-aqueous based
fluids. The amount required for each application depends on the
severity of the lost circulation.
